Wildfang achieved 29 knots, about a knot more than its Huszar-class sisters. It was built at Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino in Trieste, a yard credited with producing fast ships. Four Yarrow boilers drove two shafts through expansion engines in a hull displacing a little over 400 tons fully loaded. A single 66 mm gun, seven 47 mm guns and two 450 mm torpedo tubes made up its armament. The mixed light gun battery drew criticism over shell weight and rate of fire, despite the vessel's construction quality. Wildfang's speed did not prevent its eventual loss to mines.

Wildfang's extra knot and the Huszars' light guns
Wildfang gained an extra knot from a small Huszar hull, but its mixed 66 mm and 47 mm battery remained a weakness.
