At the time of the video, two Whitcombe originals were advertised at £55,000 and £4,950. Both prices are treated as unaffordable for personal purchase, while prints are also available. The closing assessment ranks Whitcombe among the greatest maritime artists unfamiliar to many naval-history viewers. It combines admiration for his paintings with surprise that his name remains so little known.
