What if Western intervention came in 1937?

A question that moves the intervention two years earlier shows how quickly the balance changes when Japanese carrier commissioning dates are enforced.

Question

What if the Western maritime powers had entered the war against Japan on China's side in 1937?

Short answer

Japan would be in a much weaker naval-aviation position because Soryu only commissioned at the end of 1937 and Hiryu would not commission until 1939.

Notes

Moving the point of divergence from 1939 to 1937 does not merely subtract two years from the same fleets. It removes much of the Japanese carrier strength and training pipeline assumed in the later scenario. Soryu is only just entering service at the end of 1937, while Hiryu remains well in the future. A broad Western coalition would therefore confront a Japanese navy even less prepared for a carrier-centered war than the force discussed in the main Tsingtao counterfactual.
