Wartime evidence inside a postwar beacon paper

The January 1947 paper, revised in June, mixes wartime Type 72DP evidence with YE material and discussion of systems still ahead.

Notes

The paper was first assembled in January 1947, revised in June, and appears to be a postwar analysis built on wartime work. Its discussion does not sit within a single historical moment: some passages concern the Type 72DP, others YE, and others systems still ahead. That mixture helps explain why the Type 72X and 72DM receive comparatively little direct treatment. It also warns against reading every proposal as a description of wartime equipment already in service. The publication date, revision, and forward-looking engineering analysis all complicate the paper's use as historical evidence.
