Alex Clarke describes an uncle who died during the Second World War and was buried in India after his body washed ashore. An Indian family identified him, provided a burial and gravestone, and wrote to his sister in Britain. The letter survives in the family's records, but the envelope and address are missing. The family therefore has evidence that a burial took place without enough location information to find the grave. In his account, the war graves authorities have not been able to locate it either.

A wartime burial letter without a recoverable grave location
A preserved letter records a burial in India, while the loss of its address prevents the family from locating the grave.
