Warspite's reputation for being independently minded supplies a joke about an awkward name for a nuclear deterrent submarine. The humour depends on imagining a vessel with a will of its own in a role requiring strict control. A separate naming argument asks what would make a new SSBN revolutionary. Shooting down ballistic missiles as well as launching them is offered as a hypothetical example of a sufficiently radical change.
