Warspite survives in Cornish material and a Narvik nameplate

Metal and teak from Warspite remain in Cornwall, while her nameplate travelled through the Norwegian royal family to Narvik City Hall.

Notes

Dismantling did not erase Warspite completely from the landscape or the historical record. Pieces of her metal still appear around Cornwall, and teak from her deck was made into surviving objects such as barrels. Her nameplate remained for years at Lamorna before being sold at auction. King George VI presented it to King Haakon VII of Norway in 1947, and the Norwegian king gave it to Narvik. Its place in Narvik City Hall ties the ship's physical memory to the 1940 battle in which her aircraft, destroyers, and heavy guns played a decisive role.
