Warship 2020 combines detailed historical studies with contemporary design analysis. The review copy came through Global Maritime History. Its contents include HMS Victorious's reconstruction, the beginnings of Soviet naval air power, Imperial German small cruisers, and Conrad Waters's survey of modern surface-combatant trends. Splitting Dirk Nottelmann's German-cruiser study across volumes is a poor choice for a book priced at £40. Waters's modern-warship survey also omits the Type 45 destroyer from its illustrated comparisons.
