Material about recent Russian naval commanders can vanish quickly from the public internet. Links used in 2012 while teaching about Vladimir Vysotskiy had later gone dead, and the missing pages were absent from web archive services. Russian-language searches also failed to recover much of the earlier material. Recent history is therefore not automatically better documented than older history. Unstable digital sources can create serious gaps in naval biography within only a few years.
