Launched in 1765, Victory continued active service after Trafalgar and served as Admiral James Saumarez's flagship in the Baltic. Her large hull remained useful as a command ship through a long career of repairs and rebuilds. Deployment against the United States during the War of 1812 was also considered, though it did not happen. Such a deployment would probably have taken Saumarez to America as well, suggesting a different operation from the one that actually took place.

Victory remained useful after Trafalgar
Victory's Baltic flagship service and contemplated American deployment show that Trafalgar did not end the first rate's operational career.
