The answer treats a cross-design gun swap as plausible in calibre terms but explicitly unconfirmed and likely to require modification.

Question

Could Vickers 14-inch guns fit the gun turrets of USS Arizona?

Short answer

Possibly, but the answer is explicitly uncertain; the shared calibre suggests plausibility while the installation would probably require modification.

Notes

The engineering answer is explicitly uncertain. Because the Vickers weapons and USS Arizona's guns were broadly the same calibre, the swap appears plausible in principle. The installation would probably require modification. This remains a tentative judgment rather than confirmation that the guns and mountings were interchangeable.
