Restricted Vichy service and an early French radar

Under Vichy control, Algérie's only described mission was escorting the repaired Provence to Toulon before receiving stronger AA weapons and an early French radar.

Notes

The armistice reduced a highly capable cruiser to a largely inactive fleet-in-being role at Toulon. Her only mission described for this period was escorting the repaired battleship Provence back from Mers-el-Kébir. The 1942 refit nevertheless strengthened her anti-aircraft battery while retaining a ship that Vichy restrictions prevented from using aggressively. Installation of an early French-built radar shows that domestic technical development continued even as the cruiser's operational freedom disappeared.
