Its fighters already have hyperdrives, but surviving Venators would provide a mobile base whose support capacity is harder to pin to a planet. In the example, detecting an Imperial scout lets the base depart while fighters delay the scout instead of leaving the whole force trapped ashore. A carrier therefore preserves the movement of the support system while sustaining its fighters.
