USS Natchez moved from a British order to a private yacht

The ship ultimately known as USS Natchez passed through British, Canadian, American, Dominican, and private identities in a remarkably mobile River-class career.

Notes

The frigate began as a British order named HMS Annan and then became HMCS Annan under Canadian allocation. She transferred to the US Navy before launch and entered service as USS Natchez. In 1947 the United States handed her to the Dominican Navy, where she became Juan Pablo Duarte. A Puerto Rican engineer bought her in 1950 for conversion to a private yacht. The chain of identities shows how a standardized wartime escort could circulate through several national and civilian roles after its original requirement passed.
