American standard battleships at Jutland

Earlier American participation would enlarge Jellicoe's battle line and make a German night escape even harder.

Question

How would American standard-type battleships have affected the Grand Fleet if the United States entered the war earlier?

Short answer

They would add battle squadrons, deepen Jellicoe's firepower advantage and make the High Seas Fleet's night escape more difficult.

Notes

The Grand Fleet would probably integrate the American ships into additional battle squadrons. Some older units might shift to Channel duties, but the standards would be useful with the main fleet. At Jutland they would increase the British advantage in heavy gunfire and might give Jellicoe more freedom to accept tactical risk. Their greatest structural effect could come after dark, when a longer battle line and extra squadrons reduced the gaps through which the Germans might escape.
