Japan ordered the Urakaze pair from Yarrow before the First World War, but completion extended into wartime. Only one of the two ships went to Japan. The sister, originally named Kawakaze, was sold to Italy and became Audace. German forces later captured the ship in 1943 and used it during the Second World War.
