Chapter ยท 9:46-13:46

Two light cruisers against an 11-inch raider

A UAD scenario frames the British preference for multiple fast six-inch cruisers against an 11-inch German commerce raider.

Notes

The simulation pits two hypothetical British light cruisers against an improved Deutschland-type ship with six 11-inch guns and heavy torpedo armament. The British design, labelled Chatham in the game, represents the Royal Navy's wish for more six-inch guns while staying close to treaty limits. Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts lacks the planned quadruple six-inch mounting, so the digital design is an approximation rather than a literal historical proposal. Calibre alone does not decide the engagement: the fast light cruisers must close the range, coordinate their fire, and survive a much heavier battery. Both sides carry torpedoes, adding a dangerous short-range option once the gun duel develops. The scenario resembles the tactical problem at the River Plate, but without an eight-inch cruiser to support the lighter ships.
