Chapter ยท 14:14-17:53

Tsushima deprived the future Soviet Navy of ships and experience

Tsushima's losses reduced the Russian Navy's experienced personnel and training capacity, leaving damage that the Soviet fleet later inherited.

Notes

Tsushima deprived the Russian Navy of ships and people it needed to rebuild. Many of the lost officers had gained practical experience keeping their ships and crews going on the voyage to East Asia. Their deaths or interrupted careers reduced the pool of instructors, while the lost ships left fewer platforms available for training. Tsushima contributed to the pressures leading to revolution, although it was not the decisive step. The navy had still not recovered when World War I began, and revolution prevented it from completing that recovery.
