HMS Terror and the defence of Singapore

Stationing HMS Terror at Singapore adds two 15-inch guns and a reason to retain heavy high-explosive ammunition for the monitor and fortress batteries.

Notes

The monitor HMS Terror carries twin 15-inch guns for heavy shore bombardment. Stationing her at Singapore would add those weapons to the fortress's five heavy guns. It would also justify retaining large stocks of 15-inch high-explosive ammunition in theatre. Those stocks could serve both the monitor and shore defences instead of being shipped away after a mobile fleet departed. One specialist warship therefore affects artillery strength, ammunition policy, harbour defence, and the wider Singapore strategy.
