Chapter ยท 5:19-6:06

The Trondheim objective foundered on inadequate support

The force at Namsos aimed to take Trondheim and exploit central Norway's geography, but supplies sent elsewhere left the advance without the support it needed.

Notes

The force landed at Namsos was meant to take Trondheim. On the map, central Norway appears as a position from which a properly supported advance could cut off part of the German advance. The troops moved toward Trondheim but did not receive the support needed to reach it. Supplies were being sent elsewhere, leaving the operation short of what its objective required.
