Tribals hunted Japanese movement ahead of a possible Singapore return

Late-war Tribals operated far from fleet support to track Japanese forces and reduce threats along a possible British approach to Singapore.

Notes

By 1945, Tribals including HMS Eskimo and HMS Cossack were operating independently in the Far East. They searched for Japanese movement among islands on the approaches to Singapore while ranging far ahead of supporting fleet units. Their purpose was to reduce the enemy's ability to interdict a British force if plans to retake Singapore went forward. The patrols returned the class to the distant scouting and presence work imagined before the war, but now against an active enemy.
