Chapter ยท 43:13-43:30

Attacking Spanish trade while expanding British commerce

The campaign treats attacks on Spanish trade and expansion of British commerce as two sides of a contest over state revenue.

Notes

The campaign attacks Spanish trade routes while investing in British commerce. Spanish income falls as Britain's trade revenue grows, widening the difference in resources available to the two sides. The ships are doing economic work as well as fighting. Empire: Total War simplifies the process, but the sequence makes the fiscal logic of commerce warfare easy to see.
