The video maps the class across the 2nd, 18th, 5th, and 7th Cruiser Squadrons in 1939-40. Ships such as Southampton, Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Belfast, Liverpool, Gloucester, and Birmingham were redistributed as surface-raider threats and Mediterranean commitments grew. The 2nd Cruiser Squadron effectively disappeared as its ships were reassigned, while the 18th became a large Home Fleet concentration and the 7th supplied a heavy Mediterranean presence. These changing assignments show why a cruiser class designed for worldwide responsibilities could not remain in its peacetime pattern once active operations began.
