Town-class cruisers as imperial trade protectors

The Town class is treated as a mass-built Royal Navy trade-protection cruiser, with Chatham, Southampton, Birmingham, and Lowestoft chosen for the scenario.

Notes

The original Town-class light cruisers were large for their time, built in numbers, and intended to protect global trade. The survivor list narrows to Chatham, Southampton, Birmingham, and Lowestoft, all notionally sent to Pembroke for breakup between 1926 and 1931. The former Welsh naval dockyard gives the scenario a place where stripped hulls could have been retained out of sight. These four ships form a defined starting force for the rebuild.
