Town-class cruisers in the Bismarck search barrier

Follow 18th Cruiser Squadron's barrier patrols around Iceland during the hunt for Bismarck and the wider search for German surface raiders.

Notes

The Town-class cruisers were spread across a broad North Atlantic watching line rather than concentrated for a single set-piece engagement. Manchester and Birmingham formed part of the forward barrier near Iceland alongside Arethusa, while armed merchant cruisers backed up the patrol line. Edinburgh's plotted movement from the south toward the northern search area shows how the barrier connected with the wider pursuit of Bismarck. The operational map illustrates how cruiser speed, endurance, and numbers supported surveillance across an enormous ocean area before heavier forces could close with a raider.
