Tovey's Allied logistics and Arctic convoy objections

Tovey's later assignments extended well beyond Home Fleet battle command. He oversaw eastern coastal convoys and helped organize logistics for Operations Husky and Overlord, placing him inside two major Allied amphibious campaigns. He also opposed running Arctic convoys in summer because continuous daylight stripped ships of concealment from U-boats and aircraft. Although he carried out orders to coordinate those sailings, his protest treated operational scheduling as a question of avoidable risk to sailors rather than simple compliance.
