Tiger's protection ranged from a 3- to 9-inch belt and 1- to 3-inch deck to 8- to 9-inch barbettes, 9-inch turret faces, and 6-inch casemates. Her main battery was eight 13.5-inch guns, backed by twelve casemated 6-inch guns. Two 3-inch anti-aircraft guns and four fixed 21-inch torpedo tubes broadened the fighting fit. The combination shows why judging the ship solely by her belt misses the density of protection, armament, and offensive options built into the hull.
