Thunderbirds needs conventional launch infrastructure

Retain the useful airframes and replace elaborate concealed launch routes with conventional pads, runways, clearance zones, and possibly electromagnetic launch assistance.

Question

How could the engineering of the Thunderbirds vehicles and base be improved?

Short answer

Retain the useful airframes and replace elaborate concealed launch routes with conventional pads, runways, clearance zones, and possibly electromagnetic launch assistance.

Notes

The launch arrangements cause the largest engineering objections in Thunderbirds. Its nuclear-powered vehicles would produce thermal and radiological signatures that elaborate concealment on the island would struggle to hide. Thunderbird 3's launch through a surrounding building also creates blast-clearance and structural-hardening problems. Conventional pads, runways, and clear launch routes would remove much of that unnecessary complication. Electromagnetic launch assistance is suggested if the redesign must retain a futuristic element. Most of the airframes and spacecraft receive a more favourable assessment, but Fireflash draws a separate objection: its radiation shielding is described as needing replacement after about three hours.
