How 3 Commando Brigade absorbed reinforcements

The brigade's organic specialists and deliberately adaptable structure let it absorb Paras and Gurkhas in place of its expected Dutch reinforcement.

Notes

Third Commando Brigade was organized as elite light infantry with its own specialist logistics, engineering, air-defense, artillery, and medical support. Its supporting units were commando trained so that the formation could operate as a coherent amphibious force. The brigade was also deliberately built with enough organizational capacity to absorb attached units. In the Falklands it adapted beyond the expected Dutch reinforcement by integrating Gurkhas and Paras into the campaign force.
