The Territorial Army loses its old structure

The Army's share of the review replaced the Territorial Army's regimental and divisional framework with tiered volunteer-reserve categories.

Notes

The 1966 review also reorganised the Territorial Army. The new Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve abolished the former regimental and divisional structure. Its categories separated especially ready volunteers, reinforcement and casualty-replacement forces, home-defence and emergency units, and sponsored organisations such as university officer-training corps. The changes reshaped the Army's mobilisation system as well as headline equipment programmes.
