D'Eyncourt's own accounts of naval construction

His 1948 autobiography and a detailed 1919 Engineering article provide firsthand accounts of his career and the Royal Navy's wartime construction programme.

Notes

D'Eyncourt published A Shipbuilder's Yarn in 1948 as an account of his career. His article "Naval Construction During the War," published in Engineering on 11 April 1919, is the main source used here. That long article combines prose, illustrations, and tables on ship types, modifications, and fleet construction. Opening the video here identifies the contemporary source behind the figures and quotations used throughout the wartime discussion.
