Chapter ยท 0:21-1:13

What ten November days reveal about submarine warfare

A ten-day sample frames a comparative study of submarine targets, attack methods, and the later fates of the attacking boats.

Notes

The sample selects 21-30 November across multiple years as a compact way to test what submarines actually accomplished. It goes beyond famous losses to compare mines, torpedoes, target behavior, escort screens, and submarine survival. The date range is intentionally arbitrary, so its value lies in comparison rather than statistical representativeness. A narrow calendar window can expose recurring operational patterns without pretending to be a complete history of the submarine war.
