Chapter ยท 2:19:26-2:21:24

Tate surrenders the invasion force at Goodwick Sands

Tate accepted Cawdor's terms, the French stacked their weapons, and the prisoners were marched toward Haverfordwest.

Notes

The British held their position while guns prepared, giving Tate no sign that delay would improve his prospects. He accepted the terms at about 2 p.m. on 24 February and the French column marched down to stack its weapons. Cawdor left Colby in charge of the assembled troops and rode forward with his yeomanry cavalry to receive the formal surrender at Trehowel Farm. The surrender document itself has been lost. By 4 p.m. the prisoners were moving through Fishguard toward confinement at Haverfordwest.
