A task unit is the individual ship carrying out an assigned role inside the wider formation. One hull may hold several tasking duties at the same time rather than fitting into a single narrow category. These ships combine to form a task group, and task groups combine within the task force above them. The hierarchy ends with the platforms that perform each assigned task.
