Tartar's twelve battle honours and global service

Tartar's twelve battle honours compress the geographic reach and adaptable duties of the Tribal class into one surviving ship's career.

Notes

One of only four British Tribals to survive the war, HMS Tartar accumulated twelve battle honours. She assisted after the submarine Thetis sank, screened Prince of Wales while Winston Churchill returned from the Atlantic Charter meeting, and then carried the prime minister from the Clyde to Greenock. Her operations extended through the Mediterranean, Norway, the English Channel, the Far East, and the covering force for Operation Dracula at Rangoon. Her career measures how often capable destroyers shifted between ceremonial, escort, rescue, and combat tasks.
