Extra carrier tonnage favors a longer Yorktown series over Wasp

With a larger treaty allowance, the U.S. Navy can repeat a full-size carrier design instead of building Wasp around the small tonnage left under the historical ceiling.

Notes

The larger settlement gives the United States room to keep building Yorktown-type carriers rather than economize with a one-off smaller design. A class of five or six ships could be divided into improved subclasses as experience accumulates. The first group might contain three ships, followed by a modified group incorporating later design work. Wasp might disappear as a distinct compromise because the treaty pressure that shaped her is no longer present.
