HMS Truant's ten-torpedo ambush battery

Six internal and four external bow tubes let HMS Truant fire a ten-torpedo spread at the departing German force.

Notes

The British T class combined six reloadable internal bow tubes with four external forward tubes. That arrangement allowed a ten-torpedo opening salvo without depending on a turn to bring other weapons to bear. HMS Truant waited outside Kristiansand, sighted the departing German ships, and fired the full spread. Karlsruhe maneuvered, but one torpedo struck her starboard side amidships. The moment shows an ambush-oriented weapon layout working exactly as intended even outside the theater for which it had principally been conceived.
