The Danish-Norwegian fleet brought eight ships of the line and four frigates against four Swedish ships of the line and two frigates. Swedish vessels manoeuvring close to shore ran aground. Most captures followed the next day, after the ships were already stranded. The apparent exception was a thirty-gun frigate captured at sea, distinguishing its loss from the grounded vessels.
