Suwo had been recovered from Port Arthur and served as flagship of the Japanese expeditionary fleet during the Tsingtao campaign. Her Russian styling made the ship's earlier ownership easy to recognize. She later became a gunnery training ship. One of her sister ships was sold back to Russia and later sunk in the Mediterranean.
