Suez showed a rapidly modernised carrier force

By Suez, the Royal Navy could deploy five carriers with an air group radically different from its Korean War predecessor.

Notes

The video contrasts Korean War piston-heavy air groups with the Sea Hawk, Sea Venom, Wyvern, Skyraider, and early-warning mix used in 1956. Britain commissioned six carriers during the decade and assembled five of them for the Suez operation, including two light carriers used in an amphibious role. That force concentrated more carrier strike power than the Egyptian air force could readily match, alongside land-based support. The deployment complicates a simple story of immediate postwar naval collapse without denying Britain's financial limits. It also makes the speed of air-group change visible across only a few years.
