A specialized Suez carrier air group

Skyraider warning aircraft and Wyvern attack planes show how quickly Royal Navy carrier aviation specialised after Korea.

Notes

The air group had changed markedly within only a few years. Skyraiders carried airborne early-warning radar because their endurance and payload suited the mission, while Westland Wyverns provided day-and-night attack capability. Nearly the entire combination was British, with the American Skyraider as the conspicuous exception. Specialist sensor and strike aircraft had replaced the idea that carrier fighters could cover every role interchangeably.
