A naval-aviation song quoted in the lecture captures the sharp comparison between the Albacore and the Swordfish. Its verses credit the Swordfish with the famous attacks at Taranto, during the pursuit of Bismarck, and at Cape Matapan. Another verse jokes about torpedo-bomber training, while an added stanza contrasts the Swordfish's Pegasus engine with the Albacore's modified Taurus and leaves the newer aircraft on the ground. The song expresses the Albacore's reliability reputation through humor; its service record receives a more favorable assessment elsewhere in the lecture.
