The BC-304 is likely to remain useful, though the fictional fleet jumped to large ships without a supporting small-ship programme. A fleet needs an expeditionary asset able to carry fighters, troops, and supplies to a distant problem. It also needs patrol vessels that can maintain presence and handle lesser demands. Operating such ships in pairs could preserve capability and support across a dispersed theatre.
