StanFlex flexibility depends on personnel readiness

Rapid role changes depend on having the necessary specialist crews available through training and planned rotations.

Notes

Changing a ship's role can require trained specialists who move with the relevant equipment. Simulations, experience aboard equipped ships, and personnel plans must keep those skills available. Routine changes can be scheduled through crew rotations, while an emergency might draw staff from the training establishment. Denmark has often managed this well, although reports of failures prevent treating the system as flawless. Its continued funding is judged favourably given Denmark's secure position among allies, where a government could have allowed such readiness arrangements to decline.
