Chapter · 34:58-35:58

How one defensive missile narrows an attacker's problem

Even a highly adaptable surface-to-air missile becomes a strategic vulnerability when it is the only system an attacker must study and defeat.

Notes

The concern begins when one surface-to-air missile becomes the whole defensive problem facing an attacker. The opponent can focus research, tactics, and countermeasures on one recurring design instead of several engagement systems. That task may remain difficult, but its scope is narrower. Fleet-wide repetition also reproduces the same limitations across every ship carrying the weapon.
