Terrier entered operational service in 1956, Talos in 1958, and Tartar in 1962, which corrects the proposed Talos-Tartar-Terrier order. Tartar's technical ancestry still ran through the Terrier airframe after removal of its booster. Service chronology and development lineage therefore tell different stories. A later Terrier variant adopted Tartar's semi-active radar-homing electronics to improve performance against low-flying targets. The shared technology matters more than a simple entry-date sequence.

A correction separates service-entry dates from the way guidance technology moved between Tartar, Terrier, Talos, and Standard Missile development.
