St George leads the flotilla in the Anglo-Zanzibar War

St George led a mixed flotilla of a first-class protected cruiser, smaller cruisers, and gunboats during the roughly forty-minute Anglo-Zanzibar War. Their opponent, the obsolete armed yacht Glasgow, fired on a force far beyond her weight. British return fire holed Glasgow below the waterline and she raised the Union Jack in surrender while sinking. Boats from the flotilla rescued her crew, bringing the naval action and the short war to an end.
