Splendid sank another merchant ship with torpedoes on 19 January 1943 before returning to Algiers. On a February patrol she sank a ship carrying 300 tons of ammunition, 150 tons of supplies, and 50 vehicles. An attack on another convoy a week later exhausted her remaining torpedoes without sinking a ship. Further attacks followed during March, after which her commanding officer received a Distinguished Service Order and members of the crew received commendations. By tonnage sunk, Splendid was the most successful British submarine in those waters between Operation Torch and the Axis surrender in Tunisia, despite never securing the submarine kill she repeatedly sought.
