How specialized lifts could cripple operations

Béarn's aircraft-specific lifts created a single-point failure problem and complicated movement around the flight deck.

Notes

Matching each aircraft type to a dedicated lift made the flight-deck system vulnerable to one machinery failure. If a lift broke down, Béarn could struggle to operate the aircraft assigned to it. The lifts' positions and clamshell closures also complicated movement around the deck. An arrangement that looked specialized and efficient on paper became a serious constraint when machinery or deck access failed.
