Juan de Benavides Bazan was executed for the loss, and another Spanish officer received life imprisonment. Hein returned skeptical that a low-risk capture brought more praise than his earlier combat. The victory nevertheless made him lieutenant admiral of Holland and West Friesland and the effective head of the Dutch fleet. Maarten Tromp then served as his captain.
